這首 imagine 是 Ariana Grande 在預計發行的新專輯 thank u, next 中發布的第二首新歌！在發行前網路上，Ari 回應粉絲時說到，這不是一首宣傳單曲，也請不要稱它為宣傳，因為我只是想分享一首歌，它就是一種感覺、一種氣氛，而發布 imagine 的原因是因為在下一首 7 rings 發布前，她希望能夠平衡一下歌曲間的能量和訊息，imagine 是一首脆弱、自我的歌，thank u, next 和 7 rings 都是比較自我肯定的歌曲，最後是這首歌並不會拍攝 MV，只有與藝術家 Thomas Collet 一起合作的歌詞 MV (Ariana Grande 粉絲團貼文介紹)
版主自己覺得，這首 imagine 真的超級有趣，Ariana 透過很多音色的使用及玩法，做出了更多不同的感受，也打破了典型的流行音樂結構，讓音樂回歸一種憑著感覺走的順暢及自然
imagine 雖然沒有明講在寫誰，但是透過 Ariana 自己釋出的訊息，以及歌名與已逝歌手 Mac Miller 手上的刺青相合，不難推測出這首歌是紀念 Mac 的歌曲，歌詞中有一段提到 “I never thought that it would be you.” 這段歌詞更顯現出他們兩人從深刻的友誼昇華為愛情的過程，只可惜兩人到了最後仍然沒有結局，Mac 也在用藥意外中身亡，離開了人世
